common questions about Stonefields weddings

Your Guests
How many wedding guests can I invite?

We can host up to 220 guests (including reception-only guests).

Can I have less than the minimum number of guests?

We welcome smaller groups, but we charge for the minimum number of guests.

Can I invite guests to the reception only?

Yes. We won’t charge the per-person price for these guests, but you’ll need to pay for additional late-night snacks or bar fees for your extra guests if you pre-purchase a bar package. Reception-only guests should arrive around 8:30 or 9 pm.

Are dogs allowed?

We love dogs! Your dogs are welcome for outdoor ceremonies and photos, but they cannot join you indoors.

What amenities do you offer?

Washrooms and toiletries     Blankets and umbrellas     Sunblock and bug spray     Overnight parking     WiFi     Phone charging stations     Debit/credit machines at the bar

Do you cater to all dietary restrictions?

Yes, absolutely. Please tell us about any dietary restrictions when you confirm the number of guests in your final details form.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes. The ceremony and reception buildings are wheelchair accessible, including the washrooms. We also have some paved outdoor walkways and most of our outdoor spaces are flat.

How can my guests get home?

There are a limited number of local taxis, so please plan ahead. We suggest hiring a shuttle service or using Responsible Choice to drive guests home in their own cars. Our preferred vendors list contains a variety of options.

Do you have overnight accommodation?

Yes, up to eight guests – you and your wedding party – can stay at the Stonefields Inn. The Inn offers three guest rooms and a bridal suite, all included in your wedding package. Checkout is no later than 10 am. Learn about offsite accommodations for other guests.

Your Vendors
What vendors do I need to hire?

You’ll need to hire an officiant, DJ, florist, photographer and wedding cake vendor, if desired. Some couples also hire a décor company.

Why do I need a DJ?

Stonefields Loft has a state-of-the-art sound system, but you’ll need a DJ to manage sound during your event (including music for your ceremony site, cocktail hour, dinner and reception).

If you hire a DJ who isn’t on our preferred vendors list, please ensure they have commercial insurance. They must also bring equipment for the ceremony site, including wireless or lapel microphones, a sound board and speakers.

Can I use my own caterer?

Your wedding cake and cupcakes may be brought in from third-party providers, but we take care of the rest. Our all-inclusive package includes cocktail hour canapés, dinner and late-night snacks prepared by our Executive Chef and culinary team.

Can I bring in my own alcohol?

Stonefields is a licensed establishment, so we cannot accept outside alcohol. We’ll manage and serve any alcoholic drinks on your wedding day, including beverages for the wedding party while they’re getting ready at the Inn and Pub.

Do I need to invite my vendors to dinner?

Yes. Any vendors that provide their services during dinner will need a meal – this normally includes your DJ and photographer, as well as your wedding planner if they attend the event. We charge $70 + HST for each vendor’s meal.

On your wedding day
What is the wedding day timeline?

You can see our standard timeline on the Weddings page. In fall (October onwards) we recommend starting your ceremony at 3 pm instead of 4 pm, as this gives you more daylight for wedding photos.

Where can I get ready?

Couples and their wedding parties can get ready at the Stonefields Inn and Badchild Pub. You can access these areas from 1 pm. You can also arrange in advance for food and drinks to be delivered by our team.

Where will my ceremony be held?

Ceremonies can be held outdoors in front of the Farmhouse or indoors at the Ceremony House. Ceremonies can also be held offsite, in which case your stay at Stonefields begins with cocktails at 4:30 pm.

I want an outdoor ceremony. What if the weather’s bad?

If it rains, we’ll hold your ceremony in the Ceremony House, an elegant building equipped with heating and air conditioning. If you decide to have your ceremony outdoors and it’s cold out, we can provide blankets for some of your guests. Please advise them to dress appropriately for the weather.
